Goodbye & Hello

On Saturday we said goodbye to Katie & Paige. The night before they left we got a few last shots.
one last wrestling match!

I bet you will have a new best friend fast.

I hope my new foster sibling loves me as much as Paige does.

Will you miss me?
On Sunday, we picked up two new fosters. Both dogs came from the same "home". Apparently they "belonged" to a puppy mill operator that was killed in an accident. All of the dogs were thankfully released.

First up is Lacy, the German Shepard-10 years. She was a breeder dog. When volunteers were placing her in the transport vehicle, they accidentally discovered that she had a large abscess when their finger went inside of the abscess! Lacy had severe mastitis & had a 1.75 lb tumor removed. Lacy is happy to let everyone know that she feels all better now! So far she is leery of our dogs & we are only allowing them to interact on walks with no actual contact. I am sure that everything is exciting & scary for this sweet girl. She enjoys placing her head on your lap or if positioned correctly, she will rest her head on your shoulder. We have never really been around German Shepherds before & I myself was surprised at just how big she is! She is very gentle though, and we can't wait to see how this girl will bloom!

And then we have Red the LuvBug-3 years. He was a personal pet. Red is a well adjusted BIG baby! So far he has greeted everyone with the same "how ya doin?" personality. He REALLY enjoys human contact & I think is even more CLINGY than Pauley James. He also grunts, snorts & groans the loudest we have ever heard! I go through periods where I am unable to sleep & will usually go to an extra bedroom to see if that helps. Normally when I do this, Pauley joins me in the twin bed as our actual bed, is cats only. Since Red is new, I thought I would bond with him a little & took him back with me. What was I thinking? Pauley of course was heartbroken & I could not stand to hear his pitiful cries. So I ended up with Red, Pauley & me in a twin bed! I will have to rethink that :)

We hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Red does look like a happy guy! I will miss Paige and Katie. Your senior gal looks like a sweetie too. So wonderful to see dogs that may not have had it the best can find peace after that many years of unfair treatment.

Your sleeping arrangements sound a bit cramped buy cozy. Have a great Thanksgiving with your new babies.

I'm so thankful for foster homes like yours!! Welcome Lacy and Red, you are two lucky dogs!
I love shepherds - the one I had was quite a talker, and would carry on long conversations as long as you talked back. Arr-roo-roo-roo?

Enjoy your German Shepherd. Although collies are my realm, the collie-shepherd mix I had was a great dog and opened my eyes to that breed.
