We Love the Area Lakes

If the weather even half way cooperates, we try to get out to one of our areas state parks to take advantage of the trails. Within a 45 minute drive we have 3 lakes in our area that we frequent often. The second closest to us is Lake Vesuvius in Lawrence County, Ohio. A few weeks ago we made the drive over.
Jenny on the ride over

The weather here has been pretty erratic, but this day was unusually warm. This particular day due to time constraints we just walked a short trail that is paved & leads to a cave like structure (yep very technical).
Jenny walks nicely on  leash!

what is that noise?
During the walk you could hear ice breaking off from the overhang & Pauley James practically jumped out of his skin each time.

After finishing this trail, we walked along the lake shore on the boardwalk. I failed to get a picture of the boardwalk.

You can see it in the far right of the above picture.

Jenny was a little unsure of it & took some coaxing to get her started, but by the end, she was walking like a pro. About half way across, there is an area with benches where you can stop & enjoy the view. I decided to get a group picture. Sounds easy enough……

after about 30 tries, I gave up. If the dogs were all looking at me then the Boy had his eyes closed & vice versa. It was good for a few laughs though.  In summers past, we would come over & rent a canoe for a peaceful afternoon. Since Pauley joined the family, we have not done this as there is no doubt in my mind that he would flip us over.

We have yet to be able to integrate Sherry with the rest of the pups (I will save that for a later post). Sherry had her own little adventure after we returned from the lake. Normally, if one dog goes to the lake, they all go to the lake whether in one or two trips, but we were short on time this day. About a mile down the road from our house is a spot with 2 ponds & a large field (one of Pauley’s fave swimming spots). Sherry had not been there before & we thought she would enjoy the different smells. She spent most of the time avoiding the camera,  crawling around & sniffing everything. I admit to cheering her crawls on. She is just so dang cute when she does it. All I have to do is get in front of her & baby talk her.

She did not seem at all interested in the water, but had a good time anyways. It was a great day for all.

Looks like you had a great day exploring. I love doing things like this with my girlz

Thanks for your input about gracie. My concern is that the other leg is so bad that being confined for 8 wks to do the acl surgery on the other knee will cause great atrophy in the bad leg. In other words she won't have a leg to stand on. Will continue with the adequan shots and pray for spring to come soon so we can get her into water therapy.(our pool)
Thanks again, I may bend your ear again if you don't mind.

Looks like a fun day! We too have not been canoeing in years due to the dog in canoe conundrum.

What a great day! I can sympathize with the "getting a picture of 3 dogs and 1 human" problem. I don't know if it can be done.

It looks so gorgeous! We don't have anything nearly as nice by us, and I can tell the pups really loved it!
