Ginger

The Ginger that came before me. Is she not beautiful?

I overheard the people talking today and I found out who my next playmate will be (if all goes according to plan); Ginger! I also know that the name Ginger has a special place in my people’s heart & as soon as Mrs. saw this Ginger on Petfinder, she knew they had to foster her. Years ago, Mrs. went to visit a family member (that lives about an hour away) and while she was in that town, she decided to swing by another family member’s house. When she got there, no one was home, but she did see a beautiful golden haired dog that was tied up in the middle of the yard. So of course she went over to pet the pretty dog & when she got there, she was shocked to find that the dog was left without water. She could not even find a bowl anywhere around. As you know, dogs should always have access to fresh water & with it being the middle of summer and all, she did not want to leave this dog.  You can guess what she did next; she loaded up the dog & left for home ( in no way are we telling anyone that it is okay to “steal” a dog, but this was a family member that Mrs. knew would not give a second thought to the dog). This was not exactly how the plan for the day was supposed to go, but it was the start of a wonderful relationship. Once home, Mrs. discovered that the dog was a girl. Since her hair was golden with a red tint, she decided to name her Ginger. Ginger went on to live with my people for 13 years. Even though she was a gentle dog, she was THE BOSS when Annie and Chloe came along. The thought of Annie having a boss makes me laugh. She was fair though and tolerated a lot from Chloe back when Chloe was just a pup. Much like myself,  Ginger thought that she was a lap dog, & even slept on top of the Mrs. (hey, no fair!)  Ginger remained with my people until they knew it was time to let her go. They said it was one of the hardest decisions that they have ever had to make, but after three strokes, her body just could not go on.  After a few months passed they  thought that since 3 dogs used to be the norm in the house that it would be a good idea to foster a dog & well you know the rest. Cheers to the Ginger that came before me & cheers to the Ginger that will soon be with me!

Oh, wow, Ginger is SO gorgeous. That coat, those eyes, that smile! And an attitude to match! I love that she was the boss lady. I think it's so special that she really in a way opened the door to your life as a foster family. Paws up to the sky, where Ginger is breaking doggies hearts by the minute!

Pauley, I think you are in for a super time with foster Ginger!

Both Gingers are beautiful! We loved the story of how your Mama got the first Ginger and we think she's a real hero for saving that doggie and giving her a great home. And Ginger is a hero too because she inspired your parents to keep on fostering dogs! Look how many dogs have gotten happy homes, because of Ginger? We are sure she'd approve of this new GInger too. :D
