I am sorry that we had to tell you the sad news about Sweet Baby, but we wanted her to know that she was not forgotten & even though she is gone, we still think about her. I like to think that she is in Heaven with Brandon. Okay I am moving on to happy news now! The nine puppies are growing at an astounding rate! They are butterballs!! And they are LOUD!! I thought Jasmine's puppies had good lungs, but these puppies blow them out of the water! They are only 3 weeks old, but they are already growling & barking at each other. The puppies had their first trip to the vets office on Friday. Shirley & her babies have something called Giardia. I knew I kept smelling something stinky & it turns out that Giardia gives you an upset stomach! YUCK! Everyone is on medicine now (DOUBLE YUCK!) & the smells seem to be getting better. I know that the Mr. & Mrs. spend an awful lot of time out there cleaning everything and everyone! The babies weight range is from 2.5 lbs to 4 lbs. Those are some chubby puppies! Here are a few blurry pictures. I am going to let the Mrs. know that it does not matter how busy she is, there is no excuse for not slowing down and taking a few good pictures of these babies! Make sure to tune in tomorrow for a post from the Mrs.

Those babes are just plain beautiful!!
When I got Titan, he had Girardia as well. I was like, wth is that? Anywho, took us 3 bouts of fighting it and he finally kicked it. Had to clean the bedding and stuff daily...what a PITA!
Hope your babes kick it soon! Love seeing these pics!
We had not heard of it either. The vet said that we will have a hard time getting rid of it since she is still nursing them :( When they told us how much cleaning we needed to do, I thought about laying in the floor & crying!
Oh I'm sure! And cleaning up all the poop, blah blah blah. It's a choosing of a disease. My bet said a lot of kennel/shelter dogs get it. Good luck and don't get discouraged if the don't kick it with 1 treatment. Oh yea, duh, the nursing thing. Oh yea, that stinks bad. So sorry
The 2 weeks picture of the rear paw over the puppy's eyes was too cute.
See no evil.
Keep the puppy pictures coming, I can't get enough.
"Butterballs" really made me laugh, Pauley! Thanks and thanks for the adorable photos! Looking forward to more!

Those pups are soooo cute - but I'm sure glad they are at your place and not at mine. Been there, done that! And I know what you mean about the noise level!
As for the giardia, it is a fairly common problem here and tough to get rid of. The 'eggs' (or 'cysts') that are expelled in the feces can survive for several months so the problem is one that can recur well after you think it is finally over. And, of course, since mama dog is cleaning the puppies, she will be constantly ingesting the cysts. I hope the treatment is safe for nursing moms, or you are going to have a lot of hand-feeding to do as clearing up the giardia won't be possible without treating her.
I seem to think diatomaceous earth can be given to kill the parasite - completely natural and safe, and easy to sprinkle on her food. You might want to check it out.
Oh my goodness, I had no idea that the cysts could live for several months!! Luckily Shirley potties in the side yard & no other dogs have been in the side yard. She is currently taking medicine, but the vet said they will probably all have to go through at least one more round. They go back to the vet tomorrow to be weighed for correct dosage. I will be looking into the diatomaceous earth. Thanks!
